Agentic operations means the operation of a computer — or of a computer in the historical model of human operation — reading the inputs, producing outputs, running a machine’s processing, and managing storage.

The definition welds two separately attested halves. The four functions as “computer operations” run through common usage from Berkeley’s four stations in Giant Brains (1949) through the data-processing textbook lineage (Sinha & Sinha, 1992, p. 9; Vermaat et al., 2017)1 — decades of mass pedagogy. The human-operation model sits in Turing’s definitional sentence (1950, §4): machines “intended to carry out any operations which could be done by a human computer” — and in the operations floor whose duty roster the operating system later compiled. An AI AGENT performing agentic operations stands in that historical operator position over the machine’s four functions.

The direction runs deliberate and against the industry drift: AgentOps treats agents as workloads to run and monitor — operations FOR agents. This term points the other way: agents DOING the operations.
