Agentic infrastructure names the layer of systems built so AI AGENTS execute operations end-to-end as first-class operators: the resolvers, templates, credential lanes, control surfaces, and messaging an agent works through rather than around. The term follows the IT usage, where infrastructure names everything an organisation needs to deliver and support its services, not any single system.
All of the hardware, software, networks, facilities etc. that are required to develop, test, deliver, monitor, control or support applications and IT services.

Classic infrastructure assumes a human at the interface and serves applications. Agentic infrastructure assumes the agent at the mechanism and serves delegation: deterministic resolution replaces recalled paths, machine-readable configuration replaces prose instruction, a refusal names the exact missing piece, and state lands on disk where the next agent finds it. Its control surfaces teach at the point of failure — a denial carries the correct route inside the denial — because the AGENTIC OPERATOR cannot stand behind every call.
Its working parts, by function:
- resolution — markers, registries, name services
- production — templates, printers, scaffolds
- authorization — vaults, scoped and rotating credentials
- conduct — gates, advisories, banks of operator rulings
- transport — mesh messaging, mailboxes, broadcast
The nearby industry term, agent infrastructure, mostly names platforms that deploy and monitor agents as workloads; the sense here runs wider — an environment shaped until agents operate it whole.
